Children's Privacy Notice
1. Who This Notice Is For
This notice is for a parent or legal guardian who adds a child under 13 to a Weryat Circle, and for anyone who wants to know how Weryat treats a child's information.
2. Parental Consent Is Required
Weryat does not knowingly collect information from a child under 13 without parental consent. A child may only be added to a Circle by their parent or legal guardian: by adding a child, you are confirming that you are that child's parent or legal guardian and that you consent on the child's behalf.
If we learn that a child under 13 was added by someone who is not their parent or legal guardian, that child's information is deleted.
3. What We Collect About a Child
A display name chosen by the parent or the child.
Precise location, including background location, when location permission has been granted on the child's device.
Device and technical information needed to keep location working: device type, operating-system version, app version, permission state, battery level, and error reports.
Trip and place activity produced from that location — arrivals, departures, and drives.
4. What We Do Not Do
We do not sell a child's information. Ever.
We do not use a child's information for advertising, and Weryat shows no advertising.
We do not make a child's location visible outside their Circle.
We do not require a child to give more information than is needed to take part in Weryat.
5. Who Can See a Child's Location
Only the members of the Circle the child belongs to. A child can be in more than one Circle — for example, two households — and those Circles cannot see each other.
6. Parental Rights
A parent or legal guardian may at any time review the information Weryat holds about their child, request that it be corrected, request that it be deleted, withdraw consent and stop any further collection, or remove the child from a Circle.
Removing a child from a Circle from within the app stops collection and removes their location history. To make any of these requests directly, contact weryatbro@gmail.com from the address associated with your Weryat account, and say which child the request concerns.
Withdrawing consent means Weryat can no longer provide location features for that child, because location is what the app does.
7. How Long a Child's Information Is Kept
Location history is deleted automatically on the same schedule as every other member of the Circle. Account information is kept only while the child is a member, and is deleted when the child is removed or the account is deleted.
8. Teens
A teenager between 13 and 18 should be told that location sharing is on and who can see it. Weryat is not built for secret tracking of anyone, at any age.
9. Changes to This Notice
If this notice changes materially, the effective date and version above change and a parent may be asked to consent again before collection continues.
