Weryat Privacy Policy
1. Information We Collect
Account information — your name or display name, email address or phone number, and the Circles you belong to.
Precise location — latitude and longitude, accuracy, speed, heading, and timestamps, collected when you have granted location permission.
Background location — collected while Weryat is running in the background or not actively open, when you have enabled it. This is what keeps location sharing working with the phone in a pocket.
Device and technical information — device type, operating-system version, app version, permission status, battery level, network information, crash reports, errors, and failed location updates.
Communications — support messages, feedback, bug reports, screenshots, and comments you send us.
2. How We Use Information
Provide location sharing and family safety features.
Create and manage accounts, Circles, invitations, and permissions.
Authenticate users and protect accounts and the service.
Troubleshoot crashes, errors, location problems, and other technical issues.
Improve the reliability, security, and performance of Weryat.
Provide support and communicate important service updates.
Comply with applicable law and protect users and the service.
3. How Location Information Is Shared
Your location may be visible to members of a Weryat Circle with whom you have chosen or authorized location sharing. You can belong to more than one Circle; they are kept separate, and people in one Circle cannot see that you belong to another or see anyone in it.
Weryat does not make your location publicly visible. You are responsible for choosing who you allow into your Circle and for protecting access to your account.
4. No Secret Tracking
Weryat may only be used to locate someone who knows location sharing is occurring and has authorized it, or whom you are lawfully authorized to manage as a parent or legal guardian. Using Weryat for stalking, harassment, intimidation, domestic abuse, or unlawful surveillance is prohibited.
5. Selling Personal Information
Weryat does not sell precise location information. Weryat does not sell personal information to advertisers.
6. Advertising
Weryat does not show advertising, and precise location information is not used for third-party targeted advertising.
7. Service Providers
Running Weryat requires services that process information on our behalf, only as needed to provide their service to us: hosting and databases, maps and geolocation, authentication, communications and notifications, analytics, crash reporting, and security. If you allow AI summaries when the app asks, OpenAI receives a person's name as shown in the app and that day's trip totals (never locations or addresses) to write the one-sentence summary on AI Insights.
8. Legal Disclosures
We may disclose information where required by law, or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect the rights or safety of users or the public, or investigate fraud or misuse.
9. Business Transfers
If Weryat is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will give notice before your information becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy.
10. Data Retention
Location history is deleted automatically on the schedule your Circle chooses. Other information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain security, troubleshoot problems, comply with legal obligations, and support legitimate business purposes.
11. Data Security
Weryat uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. Data is encrypted in transit. No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security.
12. Account and Data Deletion
To delete your account, along with your location history, trips, and profile, open Settings, then Share My Location, then Delete my account, or visit https://weryat.live/delete-account. You can also email weryatbro@gmail.com; a request by email is acted on. Some limited information may be retained when reasonably necessary for legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, or dispute resolution.
13. Location Controls
You control location permissions through your device settings, and you can stop sharing at any time from within Weryat without leaving your Circle. Turning off precise or background location may prevent core Weryat features from working correctly.
14. Children
Weryat is built for families, and that includes children. A child should only be added to a Circle by their parent or legal guardian, who is consenting on the child's behalf when they do so.
A child's location is treated exactly like an adult's: shared only with their Circle, never sold, never used for advertising, and deleted on the same schedule.
15. Children's Privacy Rights
A parent or legal guardian may review, update, or request deletion of their child's information, and may withdraw consent at any time, by contacting weryatbro@gmail.com. See the Children's Privacy Notice for details.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or who sees it, the effective date and version above change, and you may be asked to accept the updated policy before continuing to use Weryat.
